Use of DNA as Phoenix Evidence

Use of DNA as Phoenix Evidence

DNA can prove to be very useful evidence in complicated cases where it is difficult to get other strong evidences. But DNA can sometimes lead to wrong decisions also as the matter is highly technical in nature and thus require high amount of expertise. In Phoenix there are certain cases which have been messed up by the Phoenix police laboratory technicians. They made mistakes in nine contemporary cases in case of murder, rape and other heinous crimes. The technicians did mistakes in calculating the genetic material or DNA present in the material of evidence. Sometimes these types of mistakes are intentionally done by the technicians.

The mistakes made were so severe that made the evidence against a murder accused expectant of death sentence from very strong to limited. Although there may be a few mistakes in cases solved by the usage of DNA, but there are many success stories also. DNA can be used to solve complicated cases like the property related disputes. The likelihood of improvement regarding solution of a case increases by almost five to six times using DNA. A study conducted by the Justice Agencies found there were five burglary cases where the usage of DNA enhanced the number of suspects by five times more, thus enhancing the scope of investigation. In those cases twice as many of the suspects were arrested and more than twice as many cases were considered for prosecution. Through field experiment also it was found that DNA proves much more helpful than that of fingerprints evidence.
